Overview
Concern Worldwide are looking for a Country Director who can manage remotely and coordinate across large distances, covering five offices and around 150 staff throughout the country, operating in a demanding and security-conscious environment. As well as stabilising and improving the existing country programme, you are able to manage growing budgets and programmes.
As Concern’s representative, you will be leading a consortium of five international NGOs through the Consortium Coordination Unit in Kinshasa. The consortium is working to increase access to safe water and promote good practices in hygiene, sanitation and the management and maintenance of water and sanitation facilities to more than 550,000 beneficiaries over 4 years.
You will also be supporting more than 90,000 beneficiaries through emergency activities including distribution of Non-Food Item kits and cash transfers, as well as more than 23,000 people in livelihoods and water & sanitation development programmes in Katanga. 3 A new country strategic plan needs to be created, aligned with the global strategy and objectives, addressing the needs of Internally Displaced People, returnees and host populations affected by the DRC crisis. About you
You have senior management experience with an international NGO (preferably in a conflict or post-conflict context) and can coordinate humanitarian interventions and emergency response, as well as protection issues for refugees and IDPs.
You can manage teams working in insecure and complex contexts, and are able to deal with financial management, human resource development and logistics. You know how to collaborate, network and negotiate with funders, government and partners and your people leadership means you can resolve internal conflicts, motivate colleagues and build trust.
You are willing to travel frequently and across great distances, having the resilience to live and operate in a demanding and security-conscious environment.
Fluency in French and English—both spoken and written—is essential.
Additional Information
The Country Director reports to the Regional Director and is responsible for the strategic development and management of the Concern programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo, ensuring that it meets its objectives in line with Concern Worldwide global strategic plan. He or she leads the senior management team and represents Concern Worldwide with government, donors and other international organisations.
