Project component manager (m/f/d) Support to the "Stabilisation Support Unit"
Job description
The aim of the Promotion of Peace and Stability Project is to strengthen capacities of key international and national stakeholders to contribute to peaceful development in eastern Congo, in support of the International Security and Stabilisation Support Strategy (ISSSS).
Action field 1 aims at strengthening the Stabilisation Support Unit (SSU) (part of the international peacekeeping mission MONUSCO) and other ISSSS actors in order to allow for a better integration of local context analysis, thematic expertise and good practices in ISSSS implementation (e.g. in the field of land governance, reintegration, gender, etc.). The SSU assists the Congolese Government with its stabilisation and reconstruction programme through the ISSSS, which is the main planning and coordination framework for interventions aiming at stabilisation in Eastern DRC.
Action field 2 aims at strengthening the capacities of key peacebuilding stakeholders at local level.
Your tasks
- Advising the Stabilisation Support Unit and its partners in the stabilisation process, especially in the areas of programming as well as ensuring technical coherence and conflict sensitivity of ongoing ISSSS implementation, based on context analyses and other thematic studies/workshops financed and organised by the project
- Depending on the needs of SSU field offices, provide support in coordination of existing ISSSS projects; possibly also support networking with other development and humanitarian projects working in ISSSS areas
- Supervising national and international consultants as well as cooperation with research institutions and local organisations
- Assisting (in close consultation with the Head of Project and the country director) with the work in support of the BMZ and of the German Embassy in Kinshasa in ISSSS donor forums/coordination
- Technical supervision of national staff in the action field
- Assisting the Head of project with general project management tasks
Your profile
- University graduate (master’s/degree) in political science, international relations, peace and conflict studies or a comparable branch of study
- Several years of professional experience in international cooperation programmes, NGO sector, etc., ideally in conflict/post-conflict contexts in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Several years of work experience in the areas of peacebuilding or stabilisation in (post-)conflict situations as well as a strong technical expertise of relevant approaches/methods/instruments is a must
- Project management experience is essential; experience in programming is an asset
- A profound understanding of the conflict situation in Eastern DRC as well as the Great Lakes region in general is highly desirable
- Experience in the coordination of different actors is an asset
- Fluency in French and English; very good working knowledge of German is an advantage
