Project manager (m/f/d) Promoting Employment in South Kivu

Job description

This project, which is a TC module (technical cooperation) of the joint FC-TC programme (financial and technical cooperation) Peace and Stability in Eastern Congo, works in close cooperation with other modules to help to stabilise the region.

The objective of this module is to tackle the root causes of displacement and, in particular, to promote employment. The project also aims to strengthen social cohesion and to boost opportunities for people to help themselves. There is a special focus on gender aspects and supporting vulnerable groups.

Your tasks

  • Administrative management of the project, including responsibility for the commission
  • Providing advisory services to partners
  • Planning, managing and monitoring project activities designed to help achieve the project objectives
  • Managing the budget
  • Liaising closely with the other TC modules
  • Interacting with other local partners
  • Managing an international team of around six people
  • Ensuring that reports are provided using standard formats

Your profile

  • A university degree in political sciences, social sciences or a similar course of study
  • Several years of professional experience in tackling the root causes of displacement and promoting employment
  • Several years of project management experience in development cooperation
  • Knowledge of the region (sub-Saharan Africa) and experience in crisis regions are desirable
  • Knowledge of GIZ instruments and processes would be an advantage
  • Management responsibility experience
  • Intercultural skills/awareness
  • Fluent in English and French; a good knowledge of German would be an advantage
