NRC is looking for 2 new Security Managers in Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Security Manager is responsible for providing expert support, developing strategy, and capacity building for staff and management in the country office. This includes responsibility for security risk analysis, collaborating with support and programme functions as well as liaising with external security actors to ensure NRC operates in a safe and secure manner.

The Security Manager reports to the Country Director.

Job description

  • Development and implementation of the NRC Security Management System national level
  • Conduct Security Risk Analysis (SRA) according to minimum operational requirements (MOSS)
  • Minimize security risks to the operations of NRC
  • Management of security staff at country office
  • Support, training, control and development of security staff in all offices
  • Prepare reports as required
  • Communicate and cooperate with relevant external security actors
  • Train and develop staff in safety and security
  • Coordinate and manage Security activities, draft budgets, contribute to proposals and strategies in accordance with NRC and donor requirements;
  • Contribute to the development of Country, Area and programme strategies

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a Security Coordinator, Manager or Advisor in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Fluency in French and English, written and verbal, with excellent practicing level in the other
  • Valid driver’s license
  • guidance, and developing practical tools and resources
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Able to represent organisation at a strategic level
  • Fluency in English and French, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of the DR Congo context and/or Knowledge of the lake Chad Basin context
  • Ability and willingness to work and live under difficult circumstances

Education level

  • College / University, Bachelor's degree

We offer

  • Commencement: as soon as possible
  • Duration: 12 to 18 months
  • Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions and free housing of moderate standard.
  • Level: Grade 9 in NRC grade structure
  • Duty station: Yaounde and Goma with minimum 50% travel
