CANADEM has received a candidate request from UK's DFID for a French speaking Humanitarian Adviser with a Humanitarian Health background (Grade A2 Mid) to support the DFID response to the current Ebola crisis in DRC. These positions are with DFID and CANADEM is not taking part in the deployment but only in shortlisting of qualified candidates.

We are urgently looking for a French speaking Humanitarian Adviser with a Humanitarian Health background (Grade A2 Mid) to support the DFID response to the current Ebola crisis in DRC.

The Adviser must have French language skills and be able to represent DFID at a ministerial level.

We need coverage during the following dates:

5 – 12 June 2017, and

29 – June to Mid-September 2017

For the sake of continuity, we would prefer the consultant is available for both date ranges.

Terms of Reference

Main Purpose

To provide i) impartial and objective technical advice on how the UK should be involved in the Ebola response in DRC and ii) feeding in lessons learned from previous outbreaks.

Responsibilities

o Engaging with government and key partners

o Provide impartial and objective technical advice about Ebola and the health sector

o Represent the UK at daily coordination meetings and technical forums (if a French speaker)

o Be prepared to be highly flexible and undertake new/different tasks as the response evolves

Qualifications, skills and experience required

· A2 Health Advisor with experience of infectious diseases

· Ability to deliver at pace and to deadlines

· Ability to work well with others under pressure

· Resilience – to work effectively in a fluid context with high degrees of uncertainty

· solid written and oral communication skills

· French-language skills would be a great asset
